The moon

Post by Caleb4life »

My father (who has also become a flat earther) pointed out this verse to me and I was like  !

“He covers the face of the full moon and spreads over it his cloud.” - Job 26:9

I had never noticed that, but wonder if it speaks to what causes the moon phases?

I have no idea what “his cloud” may be scientifically, but we know the phases are not caused by the earth or sun “covering” it.

Thoughts?

Love you all!

Hmmm... that's interesting Caleb. My first inclination is to just go "plain text literal". In other words, it's just the literal clouds that often obscure our view of the moon. But there could be a deeper meaning. What that is, I have no idea. It's anybody's guess at this point, and the phases of the moon is as good as any.
“My being longs for You in the night, also, my spirit within me seeks You earnestly. For when Your right-rulings are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world shall learn righteousness.”
‭‭Yeshayah (Isaiah)‬ ‭26:9‬ ‭TS2009‬‬

Which translation or Bible is that from Caleb?

Septuagint says: He keeps back the face of his throne, stretching out his cloud upon it. (Job 26:9)
KJV says: He holdeth back the face of his throne, and spreadeth his cloud upon it. (Job 26:9)

Hi Paul,

David told me that you had posted here. Long time no talk brother! I trust this finds you well!

The translation that I was referencing was ESV.

Thanks Caleb, I appreciate your reply. I wonder where the ESV got that translation from?
