Peleg: The Earth divided

Post by DaveyT » August 27th, 2018, 9:31 pm

I'm reading through the Book of Jasher for the second time now and found a verse that hits on what some of you guys were talking about a while ago:

These are the generations of Shem; Shem begat Arpachshad and Arpachshad begat Shelach, and Shelach begat Eber and to Eber were born two children, the name of one was Peleg, for in his days the sons of men were divided, and in the latter days, the earth was divided. Chapter 7:19

It distinctly separates the "sons of men were divided" from "the earth was divided"

I've uploaded the Book of Jasher if anyone wants to look this up themselves or wants to read it.

Absolutely David, God divided the people (confusion, Babel), and scattered them all over the earth, and then divided the earth by waters (the literal meaning of Peleg - divided by waters). "Continental drift" has some truth to it, but it's not according to the secular "Pangea" model. That's another concoction of science to obscure the true picture. Scripture indicates that the earth was one connected landmass, because the whole earth was watered from the river that went out of Eden, and its four subsidiary branches; which are named...the Gihon, the Pison, the Hiddekel, and Euphrates. These rivers still exist (by modern names of course, only Euphrates retained its ancient name) but are not even all on the same continent today...the landmass has definitely been separated since that time.

On a different note; there are of course those who will reject the book of Jasher as authorative, but then they actually have to reject the fact that the Bible invokes the book of Jasher as a witness:

2Sam 1:18  ...behold, it is written in the book of Jasher.
Jos 10:13  ...Is not this written in the book of Jasher?

Two books of the Bible both cross reference themselves with the book of jasher...in the mouth of two or three witnesses...

Scripture uses the very same terminology to reference other books that in fact are themselves part of the Bible:
1Kings 15:31  ...are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

God's Word itself references Jasher as a credible witness in exactly the same manner it references the books of Chronicles in Scripture.

Why then is Jasher not generally accepted? Why is it not part of the Bible?
Ask yourself this question: Who decided for us what is "Canon"? The Vatican of course!
Then also ask yourself this question: Who was responsible for the proliferation of a whole bunch of extra-biblical garbage and many apocryphal writings that are clearly not biblical? Again, the Vatican, of course!

They do their best to bury the truth, whilst proliferating pseudo-rubbish to sow confusion, and succeed thereby to convince cursory investigators to discard the baby with the bathwater. The book of Jasher has been subverted by both Judaism and Popery for the same reasons they did it with the book of 1 Enoch - another book that is quoted from in Scripture.
